(Anima; Purificacionis)
1 Cor 15:40 “There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.”
It is proper to understand how the soul is purified. By understanding it, our souls are purified. When we see [know] the purification of souls, we are at a point to be ready to be purified. Not knowing the process of soul’s sanctification may cause us to reject the will of God; Knowledge is necessary.
Gen 2:7 “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
The above scripture gives us an introduction of Adam. By understanding it we know ourselves and the process of the purification of our souls. The word used in Hebrew for the breath of life is נשמה [neshamah]. A living soul is called נֶ֫פֶשׁ [nephesh]. Simply, God gave neshamah and man became nephesh.
Prov 20:27 “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.”
The spirit of man searches the belly of man; the spirit here is actually the ‘neshamah’. The neshamah and nephesh are two things, not one. The neshamah is what searches the belly of man; it is what gives life to man – when it goes off, man is dead. Man is a living soul because of the breath of life.
