(Fides et credo)
Now, one can believe but lack faith. In the era of Moses, people believed but lacked faith. Of demons it is written “…the devils also believe, and tremble.” … demons believe in God but lack faith in God.
Moses’ season was one of death; we are now in the season of life. If you hear the Word of Christ Jesus but have no faith in the Word, it is evidently that the veil is upon you and you reject repentance. So, what is faith? Faith is not believing, it is rather an understanding of what one believes through revelation. Jesus says “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Not just hearing the Truth, but knowing the Truth through revelation. Not knowing the Truth in revelation simply means the Word that is heard is not mixed with faith and, by extension, it is not from the conviction of the Spirit of God.
In the new covenant, everything is treated with revelation. No believing without revelation. To the old testament folks, it is written thus “But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament” to us it is recorded “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” we see the Word by faith, by revelation. Accordingly, he who does not experience the revelation of God the same believes but has no faith.
It is good and proper to believe, but revelation must be inclusive for things to be in a proper alignment. St. Paul applauds the Ephesians in Ephesians chapter 1 concerning their faith “Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, yet in vv.18 he prays for them that “the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened” this prayer is to equip Ephesians that when they have the Spirit of revelation and wisdom it will lift them from believing to having faith.
As we learn about Christ Jesus from the new testament we are tapping from the field of understanding which is mixed with faith. It is reserved in the scriptures that “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:” The understanding that reveals Christ Jesus in the new testament is dealing with manifesting the reality of Light and manifesting the reality of Darkness. The Hebrew writer puts it this way “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” He says that a matured person has his senses trained by the Spirit of God to discern both good and evil. Furthermore, we are righteous in Jesus by the fact of the Cross through confession of believing. There is also a teaching that confers righteousness “For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness:” to the matured does belong to learn the Word of righteousness.
FURTHER MEDITATION.
